Welcome from Jamie Brownlow                I thought I put out another national hunt blog. Which again I’ve written about my national hunt horses, that I’m involved in and also I’ve added two more horses in this blog. So you can follow them as well if need be during the 2021/22 national hunt season. I’m not a great writer, but I hope you enjoy reading and hope you will follow the horses this season. Yours In Sport                                 Jamie

OLEG Age: 6yr Old Trainer Paul Nicholls Form: Hurdles 12 Chase 1PUF3 Flat: 117 BHA Rating 126

Just a recap on Oleg. He was bought from France out of David Cottin stable, in which he was transferred to Paul Nicholls stable. I’am hoping he will do well for this coming season. Coming back from a lengthy injury which was sustain after his Wincanton race. Now he has taken time he has lots of scope over hurdles and fences and even on the flat.

Harry Denham assistant trainer to Paul Nicholls said “He’s (Oleg) such a talented horse” and “he’s great to be around the stable”. Also Harry added ” when Oleg is back racing he will give you lots of fun”. In my mind he is such a talented horse and jumps for fun. I would think we will see him over fences once again. Distance for him to race I could see him running at 2 Mile 4 Furlong or more. He is definitely the one to watch in my group of national hunt horses.

JEN’S BOY Trainer Nicky Henderson Age: 7yr Old Form: Hurdle 9PU646211428 Chase 222PU33 BHA Rating: 113

In the early part of the year 2021 Jen’s Boy was back out on a racetrack from his injury that he pulled up at Cheltenham. Jen’s Boy was coming back from a severn months lay off. His comeback race was a respectable third place running in a 2 mile 7 furlong race at Ludlow. Then he race again at the same track (Ludlow) on 24/05/21 finishing 3rd place once again but with blinkers on.

He does jump a fence very well, but sometimes he does make an odd mistake which does not help him. The distance for him racing is 2 Mile 7 furlongs to 3 Mile plus. Which should suit him and ground conditions I think are good or good to soft where I think you see him running in. He has been schooling over fences and he has been improving on the gallops at Seven Barrows. Jen’s Boy just need his head in front once again to get his confidence back and a 1st beside his name.

GO CHIQUE Trainer Nicky Henderson Age: 5yr Old Form: Hurdles 52841 BHA Rating: 107

In my last blog that I wrote Go Chique is the full sister to Christmas in April. So now Go Chique has had a nice break and strengthen up well. So she will use that tones of stamina in her pedigree for this coming season. So distance for Go Chique hopefully will see her run in 2 mile 7 furlong plus races in her career. Go Chique will stay over hurdles this national hunt season once again.

But I can see her jumping a fence in her later career. I really think she is a real staying horse. So there will be plenty of good races to target for her. I think we will see her in top handicap races for sure. Another one to watch.

Father John Trainer Nicky Henderson Age: 6yr Old Form Bumper 18 Hurdle 5PU1 BHA Rating: 121

As owners, as myself we have kept the faith (pardon the pun) with Father John. Since his very good win in his bumper race at Hexham. He’s had setbacks and slight problems, along the way in his racing career. Where he has had wind operations and just kept growing and strengthen, of his huge frame of his. It took patients and faith with Father John. Then on 24th September 2021 he repay them patients, when winning very well at Worcester jumping over the brush hurdles. It was a shock victory, but very happy indeed, how he finished the race and jump the brush hurdles.

But I think Father John is a chaser horse, instead of jumping over hurdles. In which he does not give any respect jumping over traditional hurdles. But I think jumping fences will make a man of him and also he makes a nice shape jumping a fence. I’m hoping he will, jump a fence sooner rather then later in his career. I hope this has turned a corner in his national hunt racing career.

URBAN SOLDIER Trainer Paul Nicholls Age: 4yr Form – Old BHA Rating: –

Urban Soldier is a horse that I have joined with Paul Nicholls. Urban Soldier is the sire of Soldier of Fortune. He looks like a thoroughly imposing and physically horse by the eye. It will be intresting, how he does at Paul Nicholls yard. But the yard are happy how Urban Soldier is doing so far in his work. He will start in bumper races first and see what happens after that with him.

HEREWEGOHONEY Trainer Fegal O’Brien Age 5yr Old Form – BHA Rating: –

Herewegohoney is a mare who won her only start in a point to point race in Ireland, which she was bought in a tattersalls May sale. She is a big scoopy horse, which she will handle going over hurdles or either fences. It will be interesting how she does in her career at Fergal O’Brien stable. She will start over hurdles but not sure what distance she will run. But might start 2 mile 2 furlongs or 2 mile 4 furlongs. But only guessing at this point.

FIVEANDTWENTY Trainer Donald McCain Age: 4yr Old Form Hurdle 11137 BHA Rating: 132

Fiveandtwenty was a well above average horse on the flat. Having won three flat races in 2020 under the care of Mark Johnston. But after that, she went and moved to Donald McCain stable to start her national hunt career. You never quite know if flat horses, will successfully translate their talent to the winter game. But Fiveandtwenty under the care of Donald McCain, shone through in the juvenile hurdleing sphere last year. She’s had a lovely break over the summer and looks to have improve physically. She might start on the flat to start her second national hunt campaign. Before being targeted at a listed mares hurdle race, at Wetherby in late October. She’s at her best on goodish ground and her fluent slick style over hurdles, should see her provide plenty more fun for her owners this winter. Her distances over hurdles will be at 2 mile races or 2 mile 1 furlong races. She is a very likable mare and one to follow with Donald McCain.
