THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT. THE FUTURE IS LIGHT BLUE AND ORANGE

Introduction: This is my third flat blog on my one’s to watch, with MPR (Middleham Park Racing) 2yr old’s. I think these 2yr old’s crop, are better then last year. Despite a very good season in the 2023 flat season, there was very good wins from Red Zone Hero, Got Love A Grey, Denruth Diamond, and Lexington Belle, plus others of the highlights of 2023. I can not select all the 2yr old’s, but I have selected a few that I think will, do well and you can follow and put them in your tracker through the flat season. Let’s hope the future is bright for these 2yr old’s with MPR (Middleham Park Racing) through the flat season.

EIGHTEENCARATGOLD (Golden Horde ex Habbat Reeh Colt) Trained by Eve Johnson Houghton

Golden Horde is a new sire for this coming flat season. The sire itself won at Royal Ascot in 2020 in the Commonwealth Cup Group one. So he’s a short distance horse between 5 and 6 furlongs. He stands breeding in France as he was third place in the Prix Morny. Also there is not alot of Golden Horde’s 2yr old’s in the UK. Unfortunately, but lucky to purchase this colt in the famous light blue and orange silks.

When I was at the 2yr old parade at Richie McGrath’s training stable. Eighteencaratgold took my eye because of his colour of his skin, a lovely chestnut horse. Even Tom Palin said 🗣 ” He’s a striking individual. I can see him in the sales races for him”. But Richie McGrath also added 🗣 ” He’s a nice colt. He will fill out nicely and he, will be a good sprinting sort”. So I can see him running at five or optimum trip of six furlongs races in his career. A nice individual horse.

LAZY GRIFF (Protectionist Ex Linarda Colt) Trained by Charlie Johnston

The Protectionist colt (Lazy Griff) was bought in Germany in the BBAG sales. Which Germany have bred and trained, horses that have won 3 of the last 12 Prix De L’arc De Triomphe’s. When I was at the 2yr Old parade, I mention in a video that I did not recognised the sire. But Lazy Griff is a huge individual, for a 2yr old colt walking around the parade arena. Mike Prince said 🗣 ” I like this colt he is the stand out for me”. As he’s been proven as he has pointed out likes of Dare MY Friend in a previous 2yr Old parade. By looking at him he’s a strong individual and height so I think he will be a middle distance horse in time.

ONE EYE JACK (Starspanglebanner ex River Star Colt) Trained by Hugo Palmer

Starspanglebanner have been good to MPR (Middleham Park Racing), as they had a horse called The Rosstafarian, which also Hugo Palmer trained. Who was sold to Hong Kong and he is renamed Champion Dragon. One Eye Jack is a nice, big horse for a 2yr old with a good walk going around the arena. Also he was very relaxed, where there was lots of people looking at him.  He was bought in the Arqana Yearling Sales as he is qualifies for French Owner Premiums. Richie McGrath said 🗣” He is the most athletic horse in our pre training yard”. He continues 🗣” He finds his work very easy. He just enjoys himself”. Richie McGrath made a complement of One Eye Jack as well. As in ridding him. He reminds him of a National Hunt horse called Synchronised, as how athletic and fast he wants was. But this colt is up there with Synchronised. He’s going to be a proper horse and it’s Richie McGrath NAP with One Eye Jack.

NIGE (Sergei Prokofiev ex Terse Colt) Trained by George Scott

Sergei Prokofiev if from Coolmore and he is the son of the great Scat Daddy. Sergei Prokofiev ran in plenty of 5 furlong and 6 furlong races, where he won the Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3), Rochestown Stakes (Listed), also finished 3rd place in the Coventry Stakes (Group 3), which Clayx won that race. He is again a first season sire, hopefully he will make the grade as a sire for this flat season. He (Nige) is a nice big 2yr Old colt with a very good movement, walking around the arena. He could run in 6 furlongs plus races in his career. Also he could be an early type in the flat season. A nice individual in which he took my eye. He also has a good temperament. Tom Palin said 🗣” This horse has so much strength and muscle and he’s a bull of a horse”. He continues 🗣” I hope he will be an early type to race and show his stuff”.  Richie McGrath says 🗣” He’s going to fill out and grow. He’s got a great attitude, in his work and he is very straight forward”. I think he could be right up there in my opinion with the big boys in top races.

DIAMONT KATIE (Acclamation ex Archangg Filly) Trained by Karl Burke

This filly was purchased from the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale. Acclamation is a very good stallion. This filly qualifies for the ‘Harry’s Half Million’ Sales race. Diamont Katie is the half sister to Ciotola. Richie McGrath said about this filly 🗣” She (Diamont Katie) has a good attitude and she has developed nicely”. She has a nice walk to her, I would think Diamont Katie could race in 6 and 7 furlongs races. But of course it’s to early to say, but I would say Karl Burke has another good filly just like Got To Love A Grey.

Other Horses One’s To Watch: Brave Emperor, Siobhanbrogan, Lexington Belle, Got To Love A Grey, Malc
